INITIAL RESPONSE

When an audible alarm or flashing strobe light is present, leave the building:

  • Remain calm
  • Alert others in the area of need to relocate or evacuate
  • Listen for instructions from overhead announcement
  • Move out of the immediate area
  • Leave the suite through the closest exit
  • Do not use the elevator
  • Once outside the building move to your assigned meeting place: move to the southern most part of the parking lot across from the building. Gather at light post marked with the number 3. Ensure access to the south east fire hydrant is not obstructed.
  • Account for all patients, parents, visitors, and staff

 

SECONDARY RESPONSE

& FOLLOW UP

  • Suggested evacuation priority: ambulatory, assisted, then dependent
  • Be aware of first responders as their vehicles enter the parking lot
  • Report any missing person to Arlington Heights Fire Department or Building Security
  • Wait for instructions from the Arlington Heights Fire Department and/or Hospital Designee before re-entry.
  • Call and update Lurie Hospital Security 77777
  • Call and update Lurie Hospital Security (312) 227-7777
