INITIAL RESPONSE

When you see fire, smoke or something burning:

• R - Remove individuals from danger
• A - Alert/Press the EMERG soft key or call 911 & then call Security 77777
• A - Alert/Press the EMERG soft key or call 911 & then call Security (312) 227-7777
• C - Close all doors
• E - Evacuate the area

If you hear the fire alarm, leave the Building if directed by the Chicago Fire Department

If you smell smoke contact, Facility Services 74098, if after regular Building Engineer hours call 911

If you smell smoke contact, Facility Services (312) 227-4098, if after regular Building Engineer hours call 911

& FOLLOW UP

To extinguish a small fire, locate the ABC fire extinguisher (found in each stairwell, in the hallways and in the hallways on each floor):

• P - Pull the pin
• A - Aim the nozzle at base of fire
• S - Squeeze the handles together
• S - Sweep from side to side

ABC fire extinguisher is used for all types of fires

For MRI - Oxygen to patient room may not be shut off unless directed by the Chicago Fire Department in collaboration with the charge nurse and/or Lead MRI tech for area and building engineer.
