INITIAL RESPONSE

When an evacuation is necessary from a floor or building:

  • Remain calm
  • Alert others in the area of need to relocate or evacuate
  • Listen for instructions
  • Move out of the immediate area
  • Leave the building through the closest exit
  • Once outside the building move to designated meeting place
    • From the front entrance, turn right, walk down the sidewalk, turn right and gather on grassy parkway N side of building
    • From the NE entrance, cross parking lot and gather on grassy parkway N side of building
    • From the south entrance, cross the parking lot and gather in the grassy area on the SW corner of parking lot
  • Account for all patients, parents, visitors, and staff
  •  

    SECONDARY RESPONSE

    • Suggested evacuation priority: ambulatory, assisted, then dependent
    • Notify Skokie Fire Department of any person unable to evacuate the building
    • Report any missing person to Skokie Fire Department
    • Wait for instructions from the Skokie Fire Department and/or Hospital Designee before re-entry.
    • Call and update Lurie Hospital Security 312-227-7777
