INITIAL RESPONSE

When you see fire, smoke or something burning:

  • R - Remove individuals from danger
  • A - Activate the fire pull station/Press the EMERG soft key or call 911 (Pull station located next to stairwell outside rear exit of suite)
  • A - Activate the fire pull station/Press the EMERG soft key or call 911 (Pull station located next to stairwell outside rear exit of suite)
  • C - Close all doors
  • E - Evacuate the area
  • ----------------------------------

If you hear the fire alarm, or overhead page code red for your suite leave the building

If you smell smoke call Northwest Community Hospital Security at (847) 618-7596

SECONDARY RESPONSE

& FOLLOW UP

To extinguish a small fire, locate the ABC fire extinguisher (found in the POS office, end of main patient hallway, and outside exam room A in the Cardiology Suite):

  • P - Pull the pin
  • A - Aim the nozzle at base of fire
  • S - Squeeze the handles together
  • S - Sweep from side to side

ABC fire extinguisher is used for all types of fires
