INITIAL RESPONSE

When an audible alarm or flashing strobe light is present, leave the building:

  • Remain calm
  • Alert others in the area of need to relocate or evacuate
  • Listen for instructions from overhead announcement
  • Move out of the immediate area
  • Leave the suite through the closest exit
  • Do not use the elevator
  • Once outside the building move to your assigned meeting place:

  • If you exit out the front suite door move to either the right or left.
    • If you go to the left proceed to the front main door to the parking lot, follow the sidewalk until you come the marquee sign.
    • If you go to the right proceed through the fire doors that lead to the adjacent building. Exit through the door on the left to the parking lot and proceed on the sidewalk to the marquee sign.
  • If you exit the rear of the suite move to your right and proceed through the fire doors that lead to the adjacent building. Exit through the door on the left to the parking lot and proceed on the sidewalk to the marquee sign.
  • Account for all patients, parents, visitors, and staff
  • SECONDARY RESPONSE

    & FOLLOW UP

    • Suggested evacuation priority: ambulatory, assisted, then dependent
    • Report any missing person to security or Huntley Fire Department.
    • Wait for instructions from the Huntley Fire Department and/or Hospital Designee before re-entry.
    • Call and update Lurie Hospital Security 77777
    • Call and update Lurie Hospital Security (312) 227-7777
