INITIAL RESPONSE

When you experience immediate loss of oxygen, medical air system failure, and/or medical vacuum system failure:

  • Hand ventilate patients until portable oxygen tanks are available
  • Use portable medical air tank or portable vacuum pump until system is back to normal
  • Complete procedures as soon as possible and cancel future surgeries until system is restored

 

SECONDARY RESPONSE

& FOLLOW UP

  • Contact local Facility Operations building engineer if on site and confirm loss of medical gas
  • If local Building Engineer not on site call Lurie Facility Operations Control Room (312) 227-4098.
  • Immediate manager will contact Administrative Coordinator (AC) 312-227-4112 to inform them of the situation
