INITIAL RESPONSE

When an evacuation is necessary from a floor or building:

  • Remain calm
  • Alert others in the area of need to relocate or evacuate
  • Listen for instructions
  • Move out of the immediate area
  • Leave the building through the closest exit
  • Once outside the building, turn right, meet at evergreens adjacent to Temple parking lot
  • Account for all patients, parents, visitors, and staff

 

SECONDARY RESPONSE

  • Suggested evacuation priority: ambulatory, assisted, then dependent
  • Notify Glenview Fire Department of any person unable to evacuate the building
  • Report any missing person to Security or Glenview Fire Department
  • Wait for instructions from the Glenview Fire Department and/or Hospital Designee before re-entry.
  • Call and update Lurie Hospital Security 312-227-7777
