INITIAL RESPONSE

When an audible alarm or flashing strobe light is present, leave the building:

• Remain calm
• Alert others in the area of need to relocate or evacuate
• ASU/ OR evacuation determined by medical personal and emergency responder
• Listen for instructions from overhead announcement
• Move out of the immediate area
• Leave the suite through the closest stairwell
• Do not use the elevator
• Once outside the building move to your assigned meeting place: If you leave out the front entrance meet in the back corner of the front parking lot, If you exit out the back entrance of the building meet in the back corner of the rear parking lot
• Account for all patients, parents, visitors, and staff

• Suggested evacuation priority: ambulatory, assisted, then dependent
• Report any missing person to Westchester Fire Department
• Wait for instructions from the Westchester Fire Department and/or Hospital Designee before re-entry.

• Alternate site if total facility needs to be evacuated: Westbrook
