When you see fire, smoke or something burning:
If you hear Code Red announcement for your floor or directly above or below, stay where you are and await further instructions. If in immediate danger relocate horizontally across fire door to safe refuge
If you smell smoke contact, Facility Services 74098
If you smell smoke contact, Facility Services (312) 227-4098

& FOLLOW UP
To extinguish a small fire, locate the ABC fire extinguisher (found in each stairwell, in the hallways and in some suite):
- P - Pull the pin
- A - Aim the nozzle at base of fire
- S - Squeeze the handles together
- S - Sweep from side to side
ABC fire extinguisher is used for all types of fires
Oxygen to patient rooms may not be shut off unless directed by the Chicago Fire Department in collaboration with the charge nurse (circulating nurse for surgical services) and Fire Response Team Leader
