INITIAL RESPONSE

For Imminent Severe Weather (e.g. high winds or a tornado): :

Listen for overhead announcement: “This is a Severe Weather Alert. Remain Indoors, close all window blinds and doors.”

Remain calm

If necessary, make an overhead announcement via Nurse Call Station or Avaya phones to alert staff and families

Close all blinds and doors

Move families and visitors away from windows

If possible, move to an interior hallway away from windows

Listen for “Severe Weather All-Clear” overhead announcement before resuming normal operations
