INITIAL RESPONSE

For Imminent Severe Weather (e.g. high winds or a tornado): :

  • Listen for overhead announcement: “This is a Severe Weather Alert. Remain Indoors, close all window blinds and doors.”
  • Remain calm
  • If necessary, make an overhead announcement via Nurse Call Station or Avaya phones to alert staff and families
  • Close all blinds and doors
  • Move families and visitors away from windows
  • If possible, move to an interior hallway away from windows
  •  

    SECONDARY RESPONSE

    & FOLLOW UP

  • Listen for “Severe Weather All-Clear” overhead announcement before resuming normal operations
